Job Title: Community Care Specialist
Reports to: Senior Community Care Specialist
Job Type: Part-Time Employee
Schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. PST
Compensation: $19/hr; $28.50/hr for crisis response outside scheduled hours (before 9:00 a.m., after 8:00 p.m., and on official bank holidays)

Minimum Requirements:

  1. At least 2 years of college-level coursework in Counseling or Psychology; Master’s degree (or working towards degree) in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work preferred

  2. Experience in crisis response and triage strongly preferred

  3. Strong written communication skills

  4. Detail-oriented, reliable, and responsive

  5. Proficient with text-based communication platforms

  6. Familiarity with Excel, Google Suite

  7. Access to a working iPhone or Android device and a reliable high-speed internet connection

  8. Understand the need for flexibility, for example: Cover for other staff members when needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Youth Staff Support & Training

    • Support onboarding and training of Youth Staff

    • Provide ongoing guidance, mentorship, and resources to Youth Staff.

    • Actively engage in facilitator-only groups, offering ideas, support, and content to strengthen ongoing training.

    • Collaborate with Senior Staff to deliver crisis training.

  • Community Moderation & Participant Support

    • Provide ongoing support to participants, fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming community.

    • Timely respond to participants in crisis, provide appropriate resources, and assess safety concerns following GUTF’s protocols. 

    • Address community guideline violations and coordinate follow-up or handoff to on-call staff.

    • Monitor community-wide chat channels to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

    • Support after-hours crisis response if needed on designated days.

  • Documentation & Reporting

    • Document all crisis situations and guideline violations in accordance with GUTF procedures.

    • Maintain participant records, compile incident/crisis reports, and contribute to improving internal processes.

    • Prepare weekly and quarterly reports for management.

  • Collaboration & Meetings

    • Attend weekly team meetings, monthly crisis meetings, and any additional training or check-ins as scheduled.

    • Participate in special projects or cross-departmental meetings as needed.
