We're looking for a monthly blog contributor to help us tell the kinds of stories that don't always make it into the press, in a press release, or a grant report: the everyday, the real, the hopeful, and the honest experience of 2SLGBTQIA+ life.
This is a once-a-month writing commitment. Topics will be developed collaboratively with our chief operating officer through a shared editorial calendar, so you'll always have a clear direction — but there's also room to bring your own ideas and voice to the table.
We're open to filling this role in an inclusive way that leverages the talent within our community: either a single regular contributor or a small rotating group of writers and professional partners, each bringing a different voice and perspective to the blog. If you're interested in writing alongside others — whether you already have people in mind or would simply enjoy being part of a small contributor community — let us know!
What You'll Write AboutOur blog covers the full range of what it means to be a young 2SLGBTQIA+ person today — the hard stuff and the good stuff, side by side. Topics might include:
Navigating identity, labels, and the freedom of not having it all figured out
Mental health, peer support, and what it feels like to be heard using our app
Family, friendship, school, and the everyday moments that shape us
Joy, community, and the things worth celebrating
Explaining concepts — like the 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym, gender identity, or mental health terms — in a way that feels like a conversation, not a textbook
Who We're Looking For
A member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, or a parent/loved one of a 2SLGBTQIA+ individual. Lived experience matters here — we're looking for someone who can write from a place of genuine understanding.
A strong writer, comfortable moving between educational and personal tones — someone who can explain something clearly and make a reader feel something.
Someone who can write for both folks in the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and for those qho are questioning, or even those on the outside who are seeking resources and guidance (like parents and caregivers).
A writer who believes, like we do, that this community is just as much about celebration and connection as it is about support through hard times.
Time Commitment
One blog post per month (roughly 1500+ words)
A short monthly check-in with our chief operating officer to plan upcoming topics
Flexible scheduling — write on your own time, within the agreed monthly cadence
What You'll Get
A real platform: your writing will be read by thousands of young people looking for connection and community
Creative collaboration with our chief operating officer on topics that matter to you
Byline and bio (if desired) on every post you publish
A meaningful way to give back to a community that may have given something to you
Volunteer sign-up
Please complete the form below and someone from our team will be in touch to discuss how you’d like to bring your talents to support Give Us The Floor.
