About Give Us The Floor

Give Us The Floor (GUTF) is a California-based nonprofit organization providing 2SLGBTQIA+ youth with a safe, supportive, and youth-led online community where youth ages 13 to 17 and 18 to 24 can connect with peers, share experiences, and get support. Through small Supportive Group Chats led by trained youth facilitators and community-wide Channels focused on specific challenges, our free mobile app offers a space for connection, understanding, and belonging for youth nationwide.

Since 2018, GUTF has served more than 15,000 youth across the U.S. and is now developing a special focus in New Mexico to expand access to this life-saving peer support in the region.

About the Role

We’re looking for an ambitious, outgoing, and personable Youth Ambassador based in the Albuquerque–Santa Fe area of New Mexico to represent Give Us The Floor in the local community.

This role is ideal for someone deeply connected to and passionate about Queer and Trans youth well-being—and excited to help connect youth in distress to our free, safe, and affirming peer-support community.

The position is primarily remote, with most responsibilities performed from home using online tools and virtual communication. However, regular local travel will be required to attend events, meet with partner organizations, and represent GUTF in the community.

The Youth Ambassador will report to GUTF’s Marketing & Partnership Manager and collaborate with them for guidance and support. Ambassadors receive orientation and ongoing coaching to feel confident representing GUTF.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Give Us The Floor at local events, conferences, school programs, after-school programs, community gatherings, and fundraising events, etc.

  • Actively develop partnerships with New Mexico–based organizations that serve youth and/or 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

  • Meet with schools, after-school programs, colleges, Recognized Student Organizations, and community organizations to share our free supportive program..

  • Participate in occasional public speaking or panel opportunities.

  • Offer feedback and ideas on organizational direction, programs, and materials, especially as they relate to NM youth.

  • Attend at least two virtual Youth Advisory Board meetings per year.

  • Set up, tabling, and tear-down at events (must be able to lift up to 40 lbs).

  • Be the face of youth in GUTF marketing materials, including social media, videos, and website features.

  • Capture photos and video content for social media from local events.

Requirements

  • Must be 18–24 years old at the time of application, to reflect the youth we serve.

  • Based in Santa Fe/Albuquerque and the surrounding area. 

  • Must have a car and a valid driver’s license. Car mileage will be reimbursed according to official rates for all job-related travel.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable initiating conversations.

  • Passionate about 2SLGBTQIA+ youth empowerment, mental health, and affirming community support.

  • Comfortable speaking publicly and representing the organization professionally.

  • Comfortably engage with people of all ages about Queer and Trans youth experiences and the mission of GUTF.

  • Flexible schedule: availability for evenings or weekends as events require.

  • Reliable high-speed internet and a recent-generation computer capable of supporting GUTF’s digital platforms (remote work).

  • Comfortable/experienced social media user (Instagram & TikTok) 

  • Must successfully complete a background check (conducted by a third-party provider).
